Description

This unsigned photograph of a woman making a split-oak egg basket was taken by Doris Ulmann around 1930. Although the basket maker and location are unidentified, the photograph was most likely taken in the Appalachian region of Kentucky, North Carolina, or Tennessee prior to 1931. This type of basket is typical of those made and sold in western North Carolina during the Craft Revival period.
