Description

This photograph shows John C. Campbell and his wife Olive Dame Campbell on the front porch of their home in Demorest, Georgia where John was the President of Piedmont College 1904-1906. The Campbell's married in 1907 and lived in Demorest until their work with the Russell Sage Foundation of Asheville took them to many locations, particularly throughout the southern Appalachians. After John's death in 1919, Olive Dame Campbell established the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C. which was named in his honor.
