Description

Frances Goodrich collected samples of regional hand weaving. This one done by an unknown weaver and was probably made in the 1910s or 1920s. It has a label sewn on it which reads: "Fragment of Counterpane, Broken Dimity. Buncombe Co." Dimity is a puckered fabric, similar to seersucker. This counterpane is all white. This sample is in poor condition with a large circular stain.
