Description

This carved horse is made from walnut by Avery Beaver. Beaver was a prolific carver who made and sold work through the John C. Campbell Folk School's woodcarving cooperative that became known as the Brasstown Carvers. In 1942, Avery Beaver is listed in the cooperative's production records as the highest seller of 45 carvers, having made almost $1,000 from carving that year.
