Description

The woman on the right in the photograph is Murrial Martin, who came to Brasstown, North Carolina from Baltimore, Maryland in order to teaching woodcarving at the John C. Campbell Folk School. She is shown here with an unidentified Brasstown carver. The carvers demonstrated as a group at the Craftsman's Fair in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in July, 1949. The photograph was taken by Bernice Stevens.
