Description
Mr.& Mrs. William Perry Smith were carvers and dollmakers who often demonstrated at Southern Highland Handicraft Guild Fairs. William Smith, more commonly known as Willie Smith, taught himself woodcarving after he lost both of his legs in a railroad accident. This photograph was taken by Bernice Stevens at the Craftsman's Fair of the Southern Highlands in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in July 1949.
