Description
Emma Conley taught spinning at Penland School. She was one of the older generation of makers who were able to pass their knowledge on during the Craft Revival. She is shown here using handcards to neaten the wool and pull the fibers into alignment for spinning. The photograph was taken by an unknown photographer at the 1948 Craftsman's Fair of the Southern Highlands in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
