Description

This photograph shows Lawrence Boone on the left and Oscar Cantrell on the right. Lawrence Boone, a direct descendent of Daniel Boone, did metal work in the city of Asheville, North Carolina in the 1920s and 30s. Oscar Cantrell was born and raised in Brasstown, N.C. He worked with the John C. Campbell Folk School from its earliest days and taught blacksmithing. This photograph was taken by an unknown photographer at the 1950 Craftsman's Fair of the Southern Highlands in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
