Description

Walter Benjamin Stephen (1875-1961) established the Pisgah Forest Pottery in Arden, North Carolina. Here he holds a piece of his cameo pottery with a classical-style decoration around the neck of the vase. His cameo work was done using porcelain slip to paint a pattern in the Wedgwood style. This photograph was taken in the early 1950s by Edward L. DuPuy.
