Description
This is a watercolored drawdown of the coverlet pattern titled American B[ea]uty [sic], drawn by Frances L. Goodrich. The use of graph paper indicates that this pattern was drawn later in Goodrich's life, likely between 1920 and 1940. The draft strip was given to Goodrich by Martha Owenby of Fletcher, North Carolina. The draft was copied from a paper owned by Rebecca Lanning and dated April the 16, 1843. In the early 1900s people began to collect weaving drafts, many of which were originally brought to this country by early settlers.
