On the reverse of this image of people on a snow covered trail is written, "Clearing and marking the Appalachian Trail on Yellow Creek Mountain, between the Great Smokies and Nantahala Gorge, Feb. 5, 1933 (Temperature 14ᵒ at 1:30 p.m.) Members of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club on this trip includes: A.G. Roth, E.G. Frizzell, Carlos C. Campbell, Frank Barber, Prof, O.W. Dynes, Dr. S. Marcovitch, Nina Shipe, Mrs. Carlos Campbell, Willie V. Cooper - Dutch Roth photo #1205."
