Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was a lawyer and U.S. Representative from western North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Park Commission and was involved in the land acquisition process that went towards establishment of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and development of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This correspondence between McClure and Weavers deals with the issue of fishing licenses in the park. Following are brief summaries of each of these letters: James G. K. McClure, Jr. to Zebulon Weaver, July 16, 1932 In this letter McClure conveys that the Board of Conservation and Development hoped Weaver could get a law passed that would require any person fishing in the park in the North Carolina side to have a state fishing license. Zebulon Weaver to James G. K. McClure, July 20, 1932 In this letter Weaver assures McClure he will look into the matter to ensure that people fishing in the Park are required to get state and county licenses for fishing.
