On the reverse of this image is written, "From the western tip of Yellow Creek Mtn. we see: Tapoco Lodge and store (thru trees in the left foreground); part of the Cheoah Power plant (right, center); bridge across Little Tennessee River, for N.C. highway #108 and the Appalachian Trail; and a glimpse of the upper end of Calderwood Lake. -Roth May 29,1933." The photograph is included in the records of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club which was formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924. Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974) took this photogrpah and was one of the founders of the hiking club. The back of the picture is stamped “Jim Thompson Co."
