On the reverse of this image is written, "Thunderhead Appalachian Trail and neighboring ranges of Great Smokies - as seen from Appalachian Trail north of Cheoah Bald. - Roth - May 27, 1933." The photograph is included in the records of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club which was formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924.
