Description
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established in 1933 as a public works program during the Great Depression. There were 22 camps located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Company 1215 was located along Collins Creek near Smokemont. This aerial photograph of camps shows the maintenance building and officers’ quarters in the foreground and supervisors’ quarters and camp barracks toward the back. The recreation hall is at upper right. The back of the photograph indicates that the supervisors’ quarters housed “all local men.”
