Description

This photograph of a giant chestnut tree in Porter's Flats was taken by Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974), an avid photographer and one of the founders of the hiking club. The back of the photograph is stamped “Jim Thompson Co. Knoxville Master Photo Finishers,” indicating it was probably printed by hiking club member James E. (Jim) Thompson (1880-1976). Written on back: 28 1/2 feet in circumference three feet above the ground.
