This photograph looking down to Deep Creek is in the collection of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. The photograph was made by Carlos C. Campbell (1892-1978), a founding member of the Great Smoky Mountains Conservation Association and author of “Birth of a National Park.” The club was formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924.
