Description
"Turkey" George Palmer (1858-1939) was a well-known figure who lived in Pretty Hollow in Cataloochee. Said to have killed more than 100 bears in his lifetime, Palmer was often photographed. This particular photograph was made by Edouard E. Exline (1905-1960), who signed his work “E.E.E.” Exline often accompanied Charles S. Grossman (1900-1972) and Hiram Coleman Wilburn (1880-1967) on historic preservation documentation for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
