Description

Wonderland Hotel was built in 1912 and the Wonderland Club in 1919. Little River Lumber Company owner, Wilson Townsend, first built a logging camp at Elkmont and then a railroad line. As timber was depleted, he began promoting Elmont as a resort community and, in 1909, added passenger service to the logging train. Townsend first built the Appalachian Club in 1910 and subsequently built Wonderland. Building No. 102 was the residence of the help.
