In this letter of January 29, 1946, Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) writes his mother, Laura Kephart to update her on his life and family. He is very busy working with the Department of Agriculture on the new 2,4-D chemical weed killer and that he will be on the radio to talk about it. He has been travelling a lot, is editing the church paper, and wrote a story for Successful Farming. He has a new granddaughter from Jane, Barbara Ann Keller. He has seen Buddy’s two month old baby only twice. Buddy quit IBM and is working for his brother-in-law, Morrison Clark. Ralph is still in the army and does not know when he will be released. He shares with her that Dr. Stern wants him to go into the Water Hyacinth utilization business. He says he’s sorry about the death of Iida Irvine and Mr. Patterson. He includes a paragraph from Dicky and wishes that she could come see all the babies.
