In this letter of February 13, 1943, Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) writes his mother, Laura Kephart to wish her a happy birthday. He tells her about his daughter Jane’s new baby who is two months old and weighs 11 pounds. Jane is leaving to live with Ralph who has been transferred to Atlanta. He tells her that his son Buddy is back on sea patrol off of Cape Hatteras where his ship has been rehabilitated after sinking. His daughter Barbara and Buddy’s wife Mary Ann visited Buddy in Morehead City. Barbara is in college, but due to the war her college future is up in the air and he shares his feelings on this and how the war affects his own daily life. He talks about his work situation and his boarders.
