Description

Leatherwood Residence Hall was dedicated on April 8, 1967 along with Dodson Cafeteria and Helder Residence Hall. It was named in tribute to Mr. Thurman Leatherwood and his wife Mrs. Nell M. Leatherwood who provided generous monetary support to students from Swain County and other students from the mountain region. Leatherwood was torn down to make room for Balsam Residence Hall.
