Abstract

In my thesis exhibition work I have explored, through painting, opposing visual characteristics within the landscape of Western North Carolina. Through this process I have attempted to give formal presence to my interpretations of nature's inherent dualities. Visual manifestations of cavities, closures, formations, ambiguity, suppression and seduction are among my impulses. With the completion of these works I have attempted to find the balance within a combination of these ideas of duality or bipolarity, creating a visual whole that relay the concepts I have been dealing with in my studio.
