Description
In her opening story, Amy describes the tragic day in December of 1883 when many died during the digging of Cowee Tunnel. (Milan Miller’s song "Cowee Tunnel" accompanies her story.) On Creative Corner with Doreyl, guest Sharon Petersen discusses her colorful fabric dolls, her creative grandmother from Wolf Mountain, and her years living in Norway. (The segment closes with the song "Coat of Many Colors" from the Heltons.) Amy's guest, Betty Barnes of Alarka, shares stories about her family and growing up in the mountains. ("He Is Here" from the Barnes family follows the interview.) On Apple Butter, Nicole’s guest is Curtis Sikes, a language arts teacher at Swain County Middle School, who discusses his new children’s book, The Heart of a King. (The Butterpats close the segment with “Children Sing.”) On Down Another Road, Judy's guest, Henry Watts of Asheville, recalls childhood summers spent on his grandparents’ farm in Madison County; "Hometown Blues" from the Blue Ridge Rounders closes the segment. The show ends with "Mule Skinner Blues" by Ernie & Mack.
