Description
Amy’s story “Love of Family” begins the show. The story is about Decoration Day and the importance of preserving local culture and heritage. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Chris Wilcox, owner of City Lights Bookstore in Sylva. They discuss the store, its importance to the community and some of the events that the store hosts, such as readings and signings. The interview is followed by “My Name is in the Book” by the Cockman Family. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Joe Rhinehart, who discusses the museum that the Jackson County Historical Association operates in the old courthouse in downtown Sylva. Joe also talks about some of the exhibits that have been on display and the museum’s role in the community. “Sweet Memories” by Joe Deitz follows the interview. On Stories of the Cherokee, Robert talks with Nikki Nations. They share some Cherokee folklore, with special emphasis on shape-shifters and “booger” stories. The interview is followed by “Booger Dance Song” by Eddie Bushyhead. On Down Another Road, Judy’s guest is Michele Swicegood of Asheville. They talk about their love of local culture and the place it holds in their lives. “Down South” by Banjo Mania follows the interview. “I Know What I Know” by Keith Shuler concludes the show.
