Description

In her story “The Second Floor Attic,” Amy shares a story about exploring the attic when she and her family lived in the old Hooper House, on Chastine Road in Tuckasegee in the 1950’s. The story is accompanied by “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” by Chet Atkins. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Timm Muth, director of the Jackson County Green Energy Park in Dillsboro. He talks about how the park uses renewable energy to foster the arts in Jackson County. He also discusses some of the events the park sponsors for children and the role the park plays in the community. “Little Dew Drop” by the Butterpats follows the interview. Amy welcomes Marcella Huguelet again on Stories of Mountain Folk. In this segment, she shares some humorous stories about her great-uncle, John Painter, better known as Doc Painter, who was a physician in Sylva. The interview is followed by “Angels Unaware” by the Cockman Family. On Stories of the Cherokee, Robert’s guest is Brandon Stephens, who lives in Nashville but grew up as a Cherokee in Jackson County. He shares some of his experiences growing up in western North Carolina, his work today advocating for Native American tribes and the importance of preserving their culture and heritage. “Ant Dance” by Bo Taylor follows the interview, and the show wraps up with “The Whup of Love” by the Andy Statman Band.
