Description

Amy’s story “What Children See” begins the show with her memories of her family’s use of tobacco and how she and her siblings have avoided it. The story is accompanied by “Mountain Woman Medley” by Ron Smith. Doreyl welcomes Norma Hendrix back to Creative Corner. She talks again about Cullowhee Mountain ARTS and how the program serves its students and the experience it offers to them. The interview is followed by a rendition of “Here Comes the Sun,” an acoustic guitar selection. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy talks with Patricia Hooper Cunningham of Cane Creek, who was Amy’s best friend when they were teenagers. They talk about growing up together and how things have changed. “Friends” by Keith Shuler follows the interview. On Coming Around the Mountain, Sean resumes his conversation with Aaron Marshall. They talk about service and how the university can engage and serve the community. The interview is followed by “The World’s Waiting for the Sunrise” by the Julie Nelms Band. Robert’s guest on Stories of the Cherokee is Kathryn Littlejohn. She talks about her family and how they celebrate the holidays. She also shares some of her recollections of growing up on the Qualla Boundary in the 1960s and 1970s. “Cherokee” featuring the Native American flute follows the interview. “Old Friend” by Terry Edwards closes the program.
