Description

In her story “Warming by the Fire” Amy tells about her father learning to drive a truck in the mountains as a young man. “Echoes of the Smokies” accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl's guest is Doris Hunter. They talk about the upcoming Hard Candy Christmas show at WCU's Ramsey Center and the crafters who will be participating this year. Doris recalls how her family celebrated Christmas when she was a child and the influence that has had on the Hard Candy Christmas show. The interview is followed by “Summer Breeze” from the album “Fiddle Sticks.” Amy welcomes Kathy Wilson again to Stories of Mountain Folk, and she shares more stories about Arvel and Jane Greene and the influence they had on her son. “The Ballad of Old Blue” by the Cockman Family follows the interview. On Coming Around the Mountain, Sean talks with Aaron Marshall, who is a student at Western Carolina University and a recent winner of the Community Impact Award. He discusses his concept of service, individually and in the community, as well as the importance of service learning and the university’s engagement in the community. The interview is followed by “A Beautiful Life” by Lonesome Sound. On Down Another Road, Judy talks about how she became interested in traditional mountain ballads and in preserving her heritage. She sings “Turtle Dove” after the interview, and the show concludes with “Foggy Mountain” from the album “Fiddle Sticks.”
