Description
The New Year’s show begins with Amy reciting the words to “Auld Lang Syne,” accompanied by a guitar rendition of the song. “Sweet Memories” by Joe Deitz follows the segment. On Creative Corner, Doreyl once again hosts Ehukai Teves and Lois Hornbostel of Bryson City; they talk about the history of the dulcimer and how it came to North Carolina. Teves also talks about some original music he has written for the dulcimer. During the interview, Teves and Hornbostel play “Bosco Stomp,” and the segment ends with “Deep Creek,” an original song by Ehukai Teves. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy talks again with Boyd Daniel Lee who shares the story of how he met his wife and also talks about his life and the work he has done, including his time in the military. “Down in Caroline” by Balsam Range follows the interview. Robert talks with Scott McKie Brings Plenty, a reporter for the Cherokee One Feather, on Stories of the Cherokee. They talk about the casino that has been approved for construction in Cherokee County, N.C., and also discuss the changes in agricultural practices by the Cherokee and in society as a whole. “Peace Pipe Dance” by Walker Calhoun follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy talks once more with her mother, Arbie Rhodes. This week they talk about Judy’s father and aunt going to the Biltmore Estate for a Christmas celebration in 1924. “Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace)” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt follows the interview, and “Auld Lang Syne” ends the show.
