Description
This special Christmas show begins with Amy recounting the 2013 Christmas gathering of the Catch the Spirit of Appalachia (CSA) board; she also describes the early history of CSA and how she and Doreyl came to start the organization. The story is accompanied by “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” and closes with a rendition of “Jingle Bells” by the CSA Board. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Ehukai Teves and Lois Hornbostel of Bryson City. They are dulcimer players, and they talk about the instrument and how they learned to play the instrument. They play “Silent Night” during the interview, and the segment ends with “Breaking Up Christmas,” a fiddle tune played on dulcimer by Ehukai Teves and Lois Hornbostel. Amy welcomes her brother, David Ammons, to Stories of Mountain Folk, and they share some stories about memorable Christmases when they were children. “In the Stable” by the Cockman Family follows the interview. On Coming Around the Mountain, Sean talks with Victoria A. Casey McDonald about her family’s Christmas celebrations when she was young. The interview is followed by “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” sung by Victoria A. Casey McDonald. Judy welcomes her mother, Arbie Rhodes, to Down Another Road, and Arbie talks about playing an angel in a school Christmas pageant, and she also shares some stories about her childhood in the mountains. The interview is followed by a harp rendition of “O Come, Little Children,” and the show ends with the CSA Board singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
