Description

Amy opens the show with her story “Mountain Mist and Frizzy Hair,” in which she recounts how she had frizzy hair as a child and fixed the problem with brown paper bags. The story is accompanied by an acoustic guitar rendition of “Let it Be.” Doreyl welcomes Cullasaja Country Club personal trainer David Quarnstrom to Creative Corner. He gives some suggestions for improving your health and fitness as 2014 starts. “Moose” by Banjo Mania follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy continues her talk with Ruth Ensley Bryson of Cullowhee. This week Ruth shares some stories about her love for square dancing, her youth and her current work as a senior companion, helping local seniors with their needs. The interview is followed by “I’ve Been Everywhere” by the Butterpats. On Coming Around the Mountain, Sean continues his talk with Victoria A. Casey McDonald. This week she discusses some changes she has seen in the Black community and in race relations in Jackson County. “Each Season Changes You” by Mountain Faith follows the interview. Judy continues her conversation with Peggy Swicegood on Down Another Road. Swicegood was born in 1932, and shares stories about her family and what it was like growing up in the Asheville area. The interview is followed by “There is a Highway” by the Cockman Family, and “Rollin’ in My Sweet Baby’s Arms” by the Rye Holler Boys closes the show.
