Amy’s story “Rich Earth, Wood Smoke & Raindrops,” tells how particular smells stir up memories of her childhood in the mountains. “The Old Wood Burning Stove” by the Company Store follows the interview. On Creative Corner, Doreyl hosts Jessie Swigger, a history professor at Western Carolina University. She talks about her early life and how she became interested in history, and shares her approach toward studying history. She and Doreyl also discuss oral history and its importance, especially as it relates to underrepresented groups and local cultures. “Things to Come,” a traditional folk guitar original, follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Blanche Potts Wike. She was born in Caney Fork, and shares some stories from her youth.
