Description
The show begins with Amy’s story “Don’t Corner Something Meaner Than You,” about her father’s brothers, the “Mean, Fighting Ammons Brothers,” and how they and their sisters interacted. “Duets” accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with David Brown, who is finishing his first year as the director of the Fine Art Museum at Western Carolina University. He talks about his desire to integrate the museum into the community and his philosophy of art being specific to where it is created. “Come Bonnie Laddie” by Glenn Kastrinos follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy continues her conversation with Stedman Mitchell of Cullowhee, who talks about working for the food service at Western Carolina University and shares some of his memories of people he used to know and work with. The interview is followed by “Wild Mountain Thyme” by the Asheville Muses. Victoria’s guest on Black Roots of Appalachia is Reverend Wanda Jean Howell Moore of Sylva. She talks about her school days in Sylva and in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and some of the differences between her life in Connecticut and her life in Sylva. “Rock My Soul” by the Golden Gate Quartet follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is Alicia Corbin-Knighten of Robbinsville, who talks about Judaculla Rock and its significance and meaning in Cherokee culture and history. “Judaculla Rock” by Milan Miller & Buddy Melton follows the interview, and the show concludes with “When the Saints Go Marching In” by the Pic & Play Dulcimer Group.
