Description
Amy begins with the story “Strong Comes After,” which continues her recounting of her mother’s early married life on Cullowhee Mountain. “My Heart Will Go On” by David Bauer accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks again with square dancers Bruce & Carol Peterson. They talk about the team square dancing they do at Shindig on the Green in Asheville and other events in the mountains, as well as their work teaching traditional dancing. The interview is followed by “Smith’s Reel” by the McDowell Family. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Rebecca Bryson of Cullowhee Mountain, who shares some family stories and memories from her own childhood. “Boil Them Cabbage Down” by Kort & Beth McCumber follows the interview. On This Is My Home, Joe reads Curtis Blanton’s story “A cold nose,” from his collection Tales from the Porch. The story is followed “Get Along Little Doggies” by the Butterpats. On Down Another Road, Judy shares some winter poems by Robert Burns and Robert Frost that she learned from her father as a child. Her readings are followed by “Gloomy Winters Noo Awah” by the Asheville Muses, and the show ends with “Little Cabin Home on the Hill” by Lonesome Sound.
