Description

The show begins with Amy’s story “Tanassee Mountain,” which continues her recounting of her mother’s early married life. The story is accompanied by “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” by David Bauer and features by “It is Well” by Gianna Jessen as an interlude. On Creative Corner, Doreyl concludes her talk with square dancers Bruce and Carol Peterson, who talk about the history of Shindig on the Green and the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival and their importance in passing on traditional culture. The interview is followed by “Local on the 8’s” by Mountain Faith. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is once again Rebecca Bryson of Cullowhee Mountain, who shares some more stories and memories. “A Beautiful Life” by Red Smiley follows the interview. On This Is My Home, Joe talks about the upcoming exhibit “Farming in Jackson County” at the Jackson County Museum. His segment is followed by “Mary Jane” from the Down Home Collection by Music 2 Hues. Down Another Road features a rebroadcast of a conversation between Judy and Madison County musician Troy Harrison from October 5, 2013. Troy talks about his musical pursuits and tells a story about pretending to be Sheila Kay Adams’s son in order to attend a folk festival. He plays “John Henry” using two different banjo styles during and after the interview. “Highway to Your Heart” by Jon Zachary wraps up the show.
