Description
Amy begins the show with her story “The Flood on Top of the Mountain,” which talks about the experiences of her grandparents during the flood of 1940. “Misty Mountain” accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl continues her conversation with Bobby Hicks, Laura Boosinger, and Joe Penland. This week Bobby talks about how he started to play the fiddle, and the three of them talk about how Shindig on the Green allows traditional music to continue. “Guest Room Blues” by Music 2 Hues follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy again welcomes Howard Allman, who shares a story about playing in the Tuckasegee River as a child and finding dynamite. The story is followed by “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” by Andrews & Lawrence. On This Is My Home, Joe travels to Washington, D.C. to talk with Ashby Bryson, an Asheville native who talks about his family’s history in Jackson County and western North Carolina. “Sail Along Blackbird” by Henry Queen follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is once again Steve Ensley. He talks about roads and trails around Swannanoa Valley and also shares stories about Davy Crockett and Elisha Mitchell and how their lives are tied to the history of the valley. “Salt Creek” by Red Smiley follows the interview, and the show wraps up with “How Mountain Girls Can Love” by the Whitewater Bluegrass Co.
