Description
The show begins with Amy’s story “Sweet Violet,” which tells the story of her name and how it was changed from Violet to Amy. The story is accompanied by “Sugarlands Suite” and followed by “Sweet Violets” by Dinah Shore. Doreyl’s guest on Creative Corner is Jeff Atkins, an Appalachian clogger, who recounts how he became interested in clogging, his work teaching clogging and working with clogging teams. The interview is followed by “Appalachian Flatfoot Clogging” by Jimmy Johnson. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy talks with Evelyn Davis Rogers of Conley’s Creek in Whittier, who shares some stories of her life. “Grandma Did It All” by Ginny McAfee follows the interview. Mary Sue’s guest on Let Us March On is Lessie Williams, an evangelist from Randolph County, who first came to the area to pastor a church in Canton. She discusses her work as a pastor and musician. The interview is followed by her song “I’ve Got a Song that I Want to Sing.” On Down Another Road, Judy talks with storyteller Gary Carden, who talks briefly about his great-grandmother and his family’s reunions in Macon County. Gary then tells about a letter written by a relative of his during the Civil War and that relative's experiences during the war. “Duets” by Music 2 Hues follows the interview, and the show ends with “In Our Hearts to Stay” by Tom Godleski.
