Description

Amy opens the show with her recollections of planting seeds in the rows her father plowed every spring. “Misty Mountain” and “Appalachian Sunrise” accompany the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks once again with David Holt, who shares his memories of Shindig on the Green and some of the musicians who played an important role or learned their craft through the event. He also talks about the importance of the event to the area and the culture. “Orange Blossom Special” by Vance Trull follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is once again Evelyn Davis Rogers, who shares some memories from her 23 years working for Ingle’s in Bryson City. She also talks about her family and living on Conley’s Creek. The interview is followed by “Rose of My Heart” by the Whitstein Brothers. On Stories of the Cherokee, Shawn talks about plants that have been traditionally eaten by the Cherokee, such as ramps and branch lettuce. He also shares some background information to prepare for a future telling of the story of the origins of corn and game. Flute music is by Matthew Tooni. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is once again Gary Carden, who shares some “painter” (panther) stories. The interview is followed by “Chasin’ Grayson” by the Company Store, and the show ends with “My Appalachia” by Betty Collins Brown.
