Description

The show begins with Amy promoting the Greening Up the Mountains festival in Sylva and sharing her memories of how she and her siblings experienced spring in the mountains as children. “Indian Killed the Woodchuck & Redwing” accompanies the segment. Doreyl’s guests on Creative Corner are Glenn and Evelyn Bannerman, who talk about traditional big circle mountain dancing and their involvement with dance and folk festivals and Shindig on the Green. They also share how their family has remained involved in folk dancing. The interview is followed by “Birdie in the Cage” by Hank Barns. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy talks with Ray Carpenter of Robbinsville, who talks about growing up in a family with 12 children. “Love of the Mountains” by the Company Store follows the interview. Mary Sue’s guest on Let Us March On is Sylvia Casey, a storyteller from Charlotte. She shares some of her memories of visiting and spending time in the mountains of western North Carolina. The interview is followed by “Gospel Ship” by the Liberty Baptist Church Choir with soloist Barbara Austin. Down Another Road features a reprise of a March 29, 2014, interview with Susan Moore of Black Mountain, who discusses the history of Hot Springs. “Clear Creek” by Appalachian Fire follows the interview, and the show ends with “Smoky Mountain Days” by Keith Shuler.
