Description
Amy begins the show with her story “The Works of the Hand,” sharing her memories of the hands of her family members and how they reflected the lives and work of her family. “Sleep to Dream” by Catherine Marie Charlton accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl hosts Hannah Furgiuele and Karen Paar from Mars Hill University, who talk about Bascom Lamar Lunsford, as well as the Lunsford Festival and Mars Hill Heritage Festival. The interview is followed by “My Name is in the Book” by the Cockman Family. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy once again welcomes Ray Carpenter of Robbinsville, who talks about his time in the Navy and the value his family placed on education. “Please Don’t Put the Apple on the Top” by the Company Store follows the interview. On This Is My Home, Joe reads “Poke Sallet” by John Parris and gives a brief history of the food, as well as a recipe. “Uncle Moe” by Music 2 Hues follows his segment. Down Another Road features a reprise of an April 5, 2014, interview with Susan Moore of Black Mountain, who talks with Judy about cleanliness and hygiene among mountain families. The interview is followed by “Don’t Let Your Deal Go Down” by Jim Greer, and “Lights Off” by Music 2 Hues closes the show.
