Description

Amy opens the show with “South on a Greenhound,” continuing her story of early married life in which she returns to her parents’ home. “O Perfect Love” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt accompanies the story. Doreyl’s guest on Creative Corner is once again Angeline Schwab, the new Executive Director for Folkmoot USA festival. She talks about the event schedule for this year’s festival and the opportunities to learn about other cultures. “There is a Time” by Appalachian Fire follows the segment. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy welcomes Elizabeth Skene, Digital Initiatives Librarian at Western Carolina University. She shares some of her personal history. Elizabeth also discusses the importance of preservation, accessibility of online collections and the digital collections of Hunter Library in particular. The interview is followed by “Cotton-eyed Joe” by Lois Hornbostel. On Let Us March On, Mary Sue interviews William “Tank” Coward. He talks about growing up in the Little Savannah community of Jackson County, teaching himself how to play the guitar, and playing spiritual music in local churches. “I Heard the Angels” by William Coward follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is once again Dale Stewart, who tells stories of living around the world with indigenous groups, their ways of life and the similarities between these peoples. The Muses’ “A Stor Mo Chroi” follows the segment. The show concludes with “Homesick” by Keith Shuler.
