Description

Amy’s story “The First Three Days of August” shares the beginning of the end of her marriage and the loss of her mother. The background music is “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” played on guitar. On Creative Corner, Doreyl welcomes Kaye Harvey, gallery manager at the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center in Robbinsville. They discuss the wealth of talent and creativity in western North Carolina. “Foggy Mountain” from the Music2Hues collection follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is once again Martha Ammons Peak, owner of Martha’s Kitchen in Franklin. They talk about memories and traditions of her family Thanksgiving gatherings. Following the segment is “I’m a Pilgrim” by Hylo Brown. On This is My Home, Joe’s guest is Betty Davis Kimble from Webster. Betty reads a story entitled “Webster’s Porches” recalling all the front porches in Webster in the 1930s and 1940s. “Who Will Sing for Me” by the Compost Mountain Boys follows the reading. Judy once again welcomes Bobby McMillon from Madison County to Down Another Road. They continue their discussion about ballads and ballad singers in western North Carolina. Bobby sings a few lines from an old ballad called “The House Carpenter” in the United States. “Summer Breeze” from the Music2Hues collection follows the interview. “Grandpa” by Henry Queen closes the show.
