Thomas Moody is interviewed by a Smoky Mountain High School student as a part of Mountain People, Mountain Lives: A Student Led Oral History Project. He describes his early life in Hayesville, North Carolina growing up on a plot farm during the Great Depression. He shares his memories of being drafted into the navy and then serving in the army during World War II. Moody describes the hardships as well as the rewarding experiences he had while serving during WWII.
