Description

In this letter of July 13, 1864, Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his "Dear wife," Martha J. Misemer, from Decatur, Alabama. He expresses his love for her and lets her know he received her letters. He describes capturing a Rebel captain and ten privates and assures her that they are safe in their new location. He tells her that she can rent a house for her hand if she needs to and details the amount of money the government is paying and he is happy to send money anytime she needs it.
