Description

Robert Turnbull was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina in 1947. Turnbull discusses growing up in the 1950s and early 1960s. He entered the Army Reserves right out of high school and attended Officer Candidate School. Turnbull shares his experience serving in Vietnam for a year as an officer in an artillery unit. After returning home, he attended the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and taught at West Point. He discusses the challenges of adjusting to life after the Vietnam War.
