Description

In this letter of December 7, 1863 Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his “Dear wife,” Martha Misemer, from Nashville, Tennessee to let her know he is doing well. He wishes he knew if she and the children had plenty to eat, but he is worried they have been robbed. He hasn’t heard from her since the 24th of September and wants to know if she received the money he sent. He lets her know that he hasn’t been sick for months and is staying dry with his issued gum leggings and gum blanket.
