Wilson, Nancie -- Interviews
Description
Nancie Wilson grew up in a traditional southern family and always knew she was gay. She grew up in Orlando prior to Disney’s presence there and tells stories about the beginning of Disney and how Orlando changed. Nancie moved to western North Carolina when her partner was placed at St. David’s Episcopal church as Deacon. She and her partner were part of the group that formed Out in the Mountains, a safe space for gay people to get together and socialize. Wilson currently serves as a Board Member for Sylva Pride. Wilson shares her experience within the church, views on same-sex marriage, and talks about the changes in Sylva over the past twenty years with regard to attitudes toward gay people.
