Description
A milk cow looks directly into the camera while other cows are lying down uphill. The cows are grazing on a solid fescue pasture in Macon County, part of the Little Tennessee River watershed. This photo is from the Tuckaseigee Soil & Water Conservation District, which was formed in western North Carolina in 1957 and became the Swain Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) in 1982. The Swain SWCD’s mission is to provide for a quality environment and higher standard of living while protecting natural resources. The Swain SWCD photographs capture various SWCD projects throughout Swain, Jackson, Graham, Haywood, and surrounding counties in western North Carolina.
