Description
W.T. (Tal) Massey carves a goat, c. 1945. William Talmadge Massey (1888-1963) was one of the first Brasstown Carvers, using carving to supplement his income from farming. Two of his daughters, Pearl Massey (1920-2004) and Nell Massey Lee (1933-2020), helped him carve and sandpaper pieces before learning to carve themselves.
