Description

A group of men ford a river on horseback during the Biltmore Forest Festival. A wooden ferry or ferry dock and attached cables can be seen in the foreground. The Biltmore Forest Festival was held on the Biltmore Estate in 1908 and hosted by Dr. Carl Alwin Schenck, forester and founder of the Biltmore Forest School. Dr. Schenck invited foresters, industry professionals, and any interested lay persons from across the South to attend the festivities.
